Bennett Jones is very proud to announce that partner Ranjan K. Agarwal has been honoured by the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) with The Heather McArthur Memorial Young Lawyers' Award.

The award is given to young lawyers who are recognized for their contributions and achievements in legal education or development of the law for the benefit of professionals and residents of Ontario.

"I am honoured to be this year's recipient of the OBA's Heather McArthur Memorial Award," said Agarwal, who works in commercial litigation and constitutional law from our Toronto office.

"I believe it's important to recognize the achievements of young lawyers, as a promise of their commitment to the profession and practice of law."

Agarwal's practice includes areas such as defamation, fraud, securities litigation, and employment services. Ranjan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, speaking about class actions, commercial litigation, employment, human rights and constitutional law. He has also argued before the Supreme Court of Canada.

OBA's "Heather McArthur Memorial" award is also given to lawyers whose contributions may either "relate to authorship, presentation, innovation, organization or delivery of programs or materials in respect of continuing legal education, professional development or law reform."

"I am grateful to my friends and colleagues who nominated me for this award, and I hope my achievements reflect their guidance and mentorship."

OBA will present the award at their Annual Awards Dinner on April 23, 2015 at the Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events.
