David Dodge, Richard Dion and John Weekes announced today the release of their hotly anticipated Spring Economic Outlook. These three Senior Advisors to Bennett Jones have been producing this Outlook biannually since 2010.

This spring the Economic Outlook takes on a somewhat different structure from previous issues. The first section covers recent dynamics and short-term outlook for the world economy; the second section reviews recent international trade statistics and reports on where key trade negotiations and the Harper government`s trade agreements program stand at present; and a third, additional, section presents the evolution, past and projected, of federal and provincial government debts and deficits in Canada.

"On net, both the world and Canadian economies are expected to gather steam in the next year", said Richard Dion, Senior Business Advisor at Bennett Jones and co-author of the Outlook. "The road ahead will, however, remain bumpy", he continued.

"On the trade negotiations front, prospects for the largely uncoordinated programs of competitive trade liberalization now underway remain uncertain. Meanwhile, in Canada, the projected fiscal consolidation achieved by the federal government and the four largest provinces combined will be a drag on Canadian GDP growth over the next three years."
