Bennett Jones is pleased to announce it is now providing intellectual property services to the Alberta Glycomics Centre. The Centre is home to some of the world’s most accomplished experts in carbohydrate-based research and is located at the University of Alberta.

The focus of the Centre’s research is understanding the interactions of carbohydrates at the molecular level and applying the knowledge toward medical and commercial uses. These include projects designed to develop vaccines against tuberculosis, bloodstream infections in hospitalized patients, various cancers and Alzheimer’s disease.

“The Alberta Glycomics Centre has been a leader in innovation and commercialization in Alberta and globally for over a decade,” says Ted Yoo, Partner in Bennett Jones’ Edmonton office. “It has clearly established itself at the vanguard of research into carbohydrate structure and function.”

“We have always had a bold vision,” says Dr. Klay Dyer, Business and Operations Manager at the Alberta Glycomics Centre. “It’s to continue to establish the Centre the leader in glycomics R&D, provide novel solutions to industry, and improve population health, agriculture, food, environment and quality of life. We believe Bennett Jones understands our vision and has the expertise and experience to help us achieve it.”
