What sets Emmanuelle Demers apart is her rare combination of legal excellence as a litigator and her intellectual vision of how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of business and law.

Emmanuelle has more than 15 years of experience in complex litigation matters and international arbitration. She practices in the areas of civil and commercial law and public law litigation. Emmanuelle represents clients at trial and at all appellate levels.

Her litigation work focuses on contractual disputes, shareholders remedies, media & defamation, product liability, class actions and transnational litigation. In international arbitration matters, she advises clients on investor-state and commercial disputes.

In addition to her legal practice, Emmanuelle is currently pursuing her PhD at the Université de Montréal. Her research interests focus on the interplay between AI, law and behavioural economics. Her PhD thesis (ongoing) analyzes algorithmic nudges and online intermediary liability. During the course of her Executive MBA (2019), she extensively researched the impact of AI on legal services and the legal practice.

Emmanuelle collaborates closely with several think-tanks on matters relating to trust in organizations, Responsible AI and the impact of AI on different fields of industry and society.

She is actively involved in the mentorship of women.

In 2003-04, Emmanuelle clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Morris J. Fish.
