Michael Barrett has a general corporate law practice, with a focus on commercial transactions within the energy sector.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones as an associate, Michael summered and articled with the firm. He was also an Associate at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development’s Programme on Intellectual Property and Development in Geneva, Switzerland.
In law school, Michael received the Law Society of Upper Canada Award, Dean Ivan C Rand Award, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP Award for holding the highest overall standing in the first year class, and finished on the Dean's List in all three years. During law school, Michael volunteered to assist Canadian Olympic and National Team athletes to prevent and resolve sport-related legal issues as a Caseworker with the Sport Solution Clinic. He also placed first in the 2017 Alberta Law Review William Morrow Essay Contest.
