In her diversified banking and corporate finance practice, Michelle Seto helps clients create and implement complex deal structures, identify and manage business and legal risks, and successfully close sophisticated financing transactions.
Michelle advises lenders and borrowers in domestic and cross-border debt financings, syndicated loans, asset-based loans, debt restructurings, project and acquisition financings, and bond financings across diverse industry sectors including financial services, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, aviation, real estate, and cannabis. She has also advised on the impacts of privacy and anti-spam legislation on the financial services sector.
Michelle applies a pragmatic approach, with a focus on delivering desired business outcomes in her transactional work. Her previous in-house experience at one of Canada’s largest banks, where she advised the members of the Corporate Banking, Global Trade and Finance, and Derivatives groups, informs her understanding of commercial objectives in banking and finance deals.
Michelle is a strong advocate for the advancement of equity, justice and opportunity in the Asian Canadian legal community. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, leading the mentorship, business development, and women’s committees. Michelle speaks fluent Cantonese.
