Based in New York City, Brian Rose leads a number of the firm's global business development activities, including initiatives to support international clients operating and investing in Canada.
Brian is integral to developing the firm’s relationships with international law firms, accounting firms and financial institutions. Brian also acts in senior advisory roles on a range of corporate finance, merger, acquisition and privatization transactions, with emphasis on the financial services industry. He is a leading expert in Canada for financial institution and insurance regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones in 2015, Brian was a partner at another national law firm where he led complex corporate transactions. He has also acted as an advisor to various governmental agencies, providing advice on a broad range of distribution, market conduct, compliance, and other regulatory matters.
Brian has been cited as a pre-eminent lawyer in Canada for corporate commercial law, corporate finance, financial services and insurance by independent directories from Chambers Global, Legal 500, Lexpert, Who's Who Legal, IFLR1000 and Martindale-Hubbell, among others. He has, for several decades, been an active participant of various international legal organizations, including the American Bar Association (ABA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
Brian is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a member of the Canadian Bar Association and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He has served on the boards of a number of non-profit and community organizations, including Lakefield College School, Shaw Festival and Canadian Stage Company. In 2012, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for dedicated service to his peers, the community and to Canada.
