Overview

David Price’s practice focuses on employment, labour relations, human rights and privacy law. He represents union and non-union employers on issues relating to labour and employment standards compliance, employment agreements, workplace policies, discipline and grievances, termination practices and procedures, restrictive covenants, human rights matters, collective bargaining, and litigation arising from employee terminations. He regularly advises on drug and alcohol testing policies and practices.

David has extensive experience with departing employee and executive litigation, including obtaining injunctive relief on behalf of employers to restrain breaches of post-employment legal obligations. David provides experienced and strategic advice to clients on employment and labour matters in mergers and acquisitions, going private transactions, restructurings and insolvencies.

He has appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Labour Relations Board, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal and the Social Security Tribunal of Canada. He has also appeared before private labour arbitrators and an international arbitral tribunal under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce.

David is a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Calgary. He is also a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian and Calgary Bar Associations, and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.
