She gained first-hand exposure to litigation at the national level while developing a nuanced understanding of judicial reasoning and decision-making. She also gained experience in the private sector, touching a wide range of legal areas and strengthening her skills in legal research, drafting and case management. Tikinas holds both Civil Law and Common Law degrees from the University of Ottawa, where she excelled academically and received several awards and scholarships including the Civil Law Class of 1966 Jock Turcot Scholarship, the Lori Beckerman Scholarship, and the Canadian Bar Association (Quebec Branch) Student Award for Social Involvement. During her studies, she also completed a pro bono project on temporary foreign workers, deepening her understanding of workplace rights. Known for her grit and discipline, Tikinas approaches every challenge with determination and composure. A former basketball and rugby player, she values teamwork, resilience and strategic thinking, qualities she brings to her legal practice.
