Overview

Jessica Mercier is a corporate and regulatory lawyer advising clients across the energy sector on complex commercial, regulatory, environmental and operational matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Jessica served as Legal Counsel at Imperial Oil, where she provided strategic legal advice to a broad range of business units, including upstream operations, Indigenous engagement initiatives, research and technology programs, fuels marketing and supply and major infrastructure assets. She has extensive experience supporting acquisitions and divestitures, regulatory applications and hearings, compliance matters, investigations and enforcement proceedings.

Before moving in-house, Jessica practiced in the Calgary office of another national law firm, where she advised clients on commercial real estate transactions and regulatory and environmental matters, including energy regulation, environmental compliance and project approvals.

Jessica is actively involved in the legal and energy communities. She serves as Vice President of the Canada Energy Law Foundation and has held a number of volunteer and mentorship roles, including supervising articling students and participating in pro bono legal initiatives. She was nominated for the 2021 Women in Law Leadership Award (Tomorrow's Leader).
