Overview

Dean is highly experienced in advising Canadian and international clients on complex domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, strategic and private equity investments, corporate finance matters, infrastructure and insolvency-based restructurings. He acts for public and private companies, private equity sponsors, financial institutions and investment funds across a broad range of industries.

Known for his commercial and practical business-oriented approach, Dean helps clients navigate and structure transactions involving multiple stakeholders, jurisdictions and regulatory considerations with over 25 years of experience in working with Canadian, European, US and other international clients. He brings deep experience managing complexity, delivering solutions that are commercially grounded and aligned with strategic objectives. Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Dean was with the Toronto and Montréal offices of his former Canadian national business law firm and served as managing partner of its London office for over seven years.

Dean’s work has been consistently recognized by leading legal directories, including Lexpert for M&A, private equity and corporate mid-market, Best Lawyers for leveraged buyouts, and The Legal 500 for international expertise, reflecting his standing in the Canadian and global M&A market.
