Phillip Hanna maintains a broad corporate commercial law practice with a focus on commercial transactions, infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate/commercial matters, including project development, asset and share purchase transactions and financing transactions.

Overview

He has participated in a range of transactions in various sectors, including construction, energy, manufacturing and services. Phillip regularly assists clients in drafting infrastructure and energy contracts related to the development of oil and gas and renewable resources.

Before becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Phillip summered and articled with the firm. Phillip previously worked as an engineer-in-training with experience in the oil and gas service, exploration and production, and utilities pipeline sectors. As an engineering graduate, Phillip leverages his technical background to provide clients with practical advice on all aspects of their projects and transactions.

Phillip also serves as the corporate secretary for the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.

•  An energy company in the negotiation of various contracts in connection with the manufacture, supply, install and lease in connection with camp facility for a mine in British Columbia
•  A renewable energy company in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) matters related to the development of large utility scale solar project in Saskatchewan

•  Pine Cliff Energy in its 2023 C$100-million acquisition of a privately held oil and natural gas producer by way of takeover bid
•  Third Eye Capital in its debt financing to BBTV Holdings' going-private transaction
