Overview

William Gatchell is a corporate associate in the Bennett Jones Toronto office, and a member of the firms Banking & Secured Transactions Group. He regularly acts as counsel for both lenders and borrowers on commercial lending transactions and domestic and cross-border debt financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated loans, asset-based lending and acquisition-financing transactions.

Prior to becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, William summered and articled with the firm.

•  Optiva in connection with a proposed strategic combination transaction with Qvantel by way of a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act to create a leading, AI-enabled digital BSS provider
•  Wells Fargo Capital Finance Corporation Canada on an ABL Loan in connection with a change of control transaction for a leading Canadian retailer
•  Wells Fargo in its refinancing of IMAX Corporation
•  Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited in connection with their C$1.085-billion secured term loan facility with Morgan Stanley
•  Halpenny Insurance Brokers, a leading independent Canadian insurance broker, in its acquisition of Windley Ely, a workers compensation claims management company
•  Resolve Sleep Health, a portfolio company of Kensington Private Equity Fund, in its acquisition of Sleep Therapeutics
•  Canaccord Genuity, as lead agent and sole bookrunner, together with SCP Resource Finance, in a C$18-million brokered private placement of Avalon Advanced Materials
•  Resolve Sleep Health, a portfolio company of Kensington Private Equity Fund, in its acquisition of Aveiro Sleep, CanSleep, Parkland CPAP Services, SleepMedix, Chinook Respiratory Care and FreshAir Respiratory Care
•  The lead arrangers and the lending syndicate of a US$2.55-billion term facility and US$600-million revolving credit facility to support the US$6.3-billion sale of Nuvei
•  York1 Waste Solutions Ltd., a member corporation of the York1 Group of Companies, a leading private equity-backed environmental and infrastructure services provider, in its acquisition of First Choice Disposal, a private corporation specializing in residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recycling solutions in the Greater Toronto Area
