Overview

James Allan is a commercial litigation lawyer with a broad practice focused on health law and professional negligence, shareholder oppression and transactional disputes, as well as insolvency and restructuring. He regularly acts on complex matters and has been involved in several of the firm’s significant insolvency and restructuring mandates in Alberta, across Canada and in cross-border proceedings.

James has appeared before multiple levels of the court in Alberta and has experience in large, multiweek trials, as well as independently managing and running trials. His practice is defined by careful analysis, strategic advocacy and a practical, results-oriented approach to dispute resolution.

Committed to teaching and mentorship within the legal community, James is a sessional instructor at NAIT, where he teaches business law. He also coaches students in the Bennett Jones Health Law Moot as part of the University of Alberta Faculty of Law’s competitive moot program.
