Jesse Goldman practises in the areas of international trade, investment, customs and commodity taxation. He has extensive experience in providing strategic advice to clients designed to maximize their commercial opportunities from international trade and investment. Jesse is a member of Bennett Jones' China Practice group, and his advice on cross-Pacific trade and investment matters is frequently sought by Canadian, international, and Chinese clients.
Jesse represents and advises domestic and international clients and governments on matters relating to Canadian and international trade law, including trade remedies, NAFTA and WTO matters, customs compliance, cross-border commodity and service taxation, trade and border security, and regulatory issues impacting the cross border movement of goods. He has experience representing clients in a wide range of sectors, from manufacturers of industrial and consumer products, energy, aviation, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
Jesse has been counsel in numerous leading international trade and customs cases litigated before Canadian courts and tribunals. He has been counsel of record in over 100 trade remedy matters, with a focus in recent years in trade remedy litigation involving China. He has been at the forefront of international trade and trade policy issues affecting Chinese exporters and importers of Chinese goods.
Jesse is fluent in English and French. He has lectured to trade and bar associations throughout Canada, the U.S. and China. He is recognized in Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business as a leading lawyer in International Trade/WTO, and Who's Who Legal: Canada 2010-2016 as a leading lawyer in Trade & Customs.

Jesse has been appointed as Vice-Chair of the International Trade Committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), is a Canadian delegate to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Commission on Customs and Trade Facilitation and the Business Investment Advisory Committee (BIAC) China Task Force Working Group. He is a widely published author on international trade laws and policies, including Practical Law UK – International Trade and Commercial Transactions in Canada: Overview and Getting the Deal Through – Trade & Customs in 2015 and 2016.
