Hasan El-Shafiey is a senior associate of Bennett Jones (Gulf) LLP, which carries on the practice of law in Doha, Qatar, in association with Bennett Jones LLP.
Hasan has been in the legal profession since 2006 and has a deep understanding of Middle Eastern legal systems and jurisprudence. His practice with the firm focuses on international and local commercial arbitration as well as commercial transactional work. Hasan has worked on a significant number of arbitration matters under ICC, LCIA and other institutional arbitration rules, with a particular focus on construction related disputes. He has advised and represented state entities, main contractors, subcontractors and engineering consultants in relation to international arbitration and global mediation proceedings. He has also advised a number of international clients on the legal framework for doing business and assisted with the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial and financial contractual documentation, including sale and purchase agreements, construction and infrastructure contracts as well as agency, distribution and marketing agreements.
Hasan holds an LLB degree and a post graduate diploma in Islamic law from Alexandria University, Egypt and a post graduate diploma in International Dispute Resolution from the University of London. Hasan is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association.
Hasan is fluent in Arabic and English.
