Mitchell Dorbyk has a general international trade and investment practice.
In law school, Mitchell competed in two large international law moots: the Philip C. Jessup Public International Law moot and the Foreign Direct Investment Law moot. In each moot his team advanced to the playoff rounds of international competition, where the team received prizes for their written submissions, including best factums at the Foreign Direct Investment Law moot. Mitchell was individually awarded for his oral advocacy in both competitions.
Throughout his undergrad, Mitchell partook in debate competitions around the world. During this time he won the Canadian Parliamentary National Championships, twice represented Queen’s University at the Worlds University Debating Championships and thrice adjudicated the North American Championship finals. He continues to assist with debate tournaments at the University and high school level, helping train young debaters.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Mitchell articled at a boutique firm in Toronto after summering with Global Affairs Canada, where he assisted with Canada’s trade deals and World Trade Organization litigation.
