Suzanne Cassell's practice focuses on environmental, Aboriginal, and regulatory law. She advises clients and has a wide range of experience on complex regulatory compliance issues, enforcement actions and investigations, environmental prosecutions and quasi-criminal liability, and spill management. Suzanne has experience with environmental assessments, matters related to Aboriginal consultation, and water and wastewater authorizations for energy projects and industrial facilities.
Suzanne also has experience in tribunal and arbitral proceedings respecting public utility matters (in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories), including judicial review of administrative decisions. She has experience with matters and proceedings before the National Energy Board, British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission, Alberta Energy Regulator, Alberta and British Columbia Utilities Commissions, Surface Rights Board, Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, Provincial Courts of Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, as well as in private arbitrations.
Suzanne is called to the bar in British Columbia and Alberta and practices in both provinces. Prior to joining Bennett Jones in Vancouver, she summered, articled, and practised in the firm’s Regulatory Group in Calgary.
