Scott has extensive domestic and international experience providing legal and business advice across a number of energy, mining, industrial and related infrastructure activities including utility and feedstock supply, power generation, construction, claims avoidance, maintenance, operations, transportation, and product offtake and sales. He also advises on a broad range of corporate matters including joint ventures, strategic partnerships, outsourcing, and governance.
Scott has been consistently recognized by Law Business Research’s Who’s Who Legal as a leading energy lawyer.
To complement his practice, Scott has been a speaker and instructor at a number of forums including the University of Calgary Faculty of Engineering’s Graduate Program: “Law for Project Managers,” and the Law Society of Alberta’s Bar Admission Course.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Scott was General Counsel at Sadara Chemical Company (a company formed and jointly owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Saudi Aramco), and has been an Associate and Partner with another leading Canadian firm (and Managing Partner of that firm’s Middle East Offices between 2010 and 2015), as well as the Director of Legal Affairs and Business Services at Suncor Energy, one of Canada’s largest energy and mining companies.
