A mainstay of our telecom practice involves representing clients before the CRTC and other regulatory bodies in connection with rate applications, broadcast licenses, content-related disputes and anti-trust matters during mergers and acquisitions.
Our history in the telecommunications sector involves some of Canada’s largest broadcasters, telephone, cable and wireless companies, and retailers of telecommunications equipment and services. We advise on telecom infrastructure including finance, draft telecommunications supply, service and distribution agreements, provide privacy and security compliance advice to telecom providers and networks, and negotiate strategic alliances in connection with joint-development and service initiatives. In the telecom transaction and restructuring field, we advised Telus Corporation since its inception on matters such as its $9.9-billion merger with BC Telecom, the $810-million sale of its directory business to Verizon Information Services and currently, in connection with its conversion to an income trust.
