Fraud Law

From internal investigations of employee theft and breaches of corporate security to pursuit of perpetrators of domestic and international white collar crime, Bennett Jones handles a full array of fraud law issues. Clients turn to us for help with such vexing issues as bank fraud, antitrust, securities fraud, tax fraud, consumer fraud, corruption, money-laundering, secret commission schemes and wilful negligence.

With damage mitigation and recovery being our primary goals, we draw on our combined years of experience to quickly assess situations arising from fraud and formulate assertive, results-oriented action plans. Although this can and often does involve seeking extraordinary relief through Mareva injunctions and Anton Piller orders, we also lead and participate in the conduct of investigations, working with crime-prevention authorities, executives, committees, internal and external auditors and forensic consultants on all aspects of an inquiry, including interviewing witnesses, reporting to victims, initiating Norwich Pharmacal orders and responding to search warrants and privilege issues.

We have particular experience in securities fraud matters involving insider trading, stock market manipulation and allegations of other criminal activity by directors and officers.

Risk management can be critical in preventing damage through fraud. We meet regularly with clients to assess existing systems and to work with them proactively to prevent future losses.
